Get started

Torn Atlas is in beta (v0.9). You can browse shared tools right away, connect your own account with the browser extension, or use the Travel script inside Torn.

Extension or Travel script?

What is Torn Atlas

A dashboard for your Torn account, built around the stuff spreadsheets and half-remembered tabs used to handle: your stats and vitals at a glance, a net worth/cash trend graph, a travel day-planner that scores every destination by real profit-per-hour (using live abroad stock data, not guesswork), a trip log, market and stock-market tools with swing signals, crimes reference data (including a full unique-outcome breakdown per crime type, community-sourced since Torn's own API doesn't expose it), and education tracking.

It's built for one person's account per browser - there's no shared login, no leaderboard, nothing social. You connect your own key, you see your own data. The shared stuff (item and stock prices, abroad stock) is the same for everyone and needs no key at all.

Why a site and an extension

Torn Atlas is two separate pieces working together, and that split exists specifically to keep your API key off any server:

A single combined tool could technically work the same way client-side, but splitting them makes the trust boundary obvious and checkable: the extension's code is short enough to read in five minutes and confirm it only ever calls api.torn.com, full stop.

What actually happens when you connect

Torn Atlas has two kinds of data:

Concretely, the extension: syncs automatically every 3 minutes while your browser is open (or instantly if you click "Sync now"), fetches your profile/stats/bars/travel/cooldowns/education/crimes-relevant fields, and stores only a rolling snapshot locally. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it instantly, since nothing is kept anywhere else on an ongoing basis.

Install the extension

This is a manual "Load unpacked" install, not a Chrome Web Store listing - and honestly, that's arguably the more trustworthy way to install it: you can open every file in a text editor and read exactly what it does before it ever touches your browser, rather than trusting a store listing and its update pipeline. It's also the only real option while Torn Atlas is still invite-only for testing.

  1. Download the extension (.zip) and unzip it somewhere you won't delete - your browser loads it live from that folder, so don't move or remove it afterward.
  2. In Chrome or Brave, go to chrome://extensions (or brave://extensions).
  3. Turn on Developer mode (top-right toggle).
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped torn-atlas-extension folder.
  5. Click the new Torn Atlas icon in your toolbar (pin it via the puzzle-piece icon if you don't see it).
  6. In the popup, click Settings.
  7. Don't have a Torn API key yet? Generate one here - pick Limited Access, nothing more is needed.
  8. Paste your key into the extension's Options page and click Save - it syncs immediately.
  9. Visit Torn Atlas (the link you were given) and open the Dashboard - your stats should be there within a few seconds.

Updating the extension later

When a new version comes out, you'll need to grab it again - but how you update matters. Everything the extension has learned about your account (your trip log, Flipping trades, saved API key, timezone) lives in your browser's local storage, tied to that specific extension folder. Update it the right way and all of that stays intact; update it the wrong way and it's gone for good, since none of it is ever backed up anywhere else on purpose (see Terms & data policy).

Do this:

  1. Download the new zip and unzip it into the exact same folder you used the first time, overwriting the old files. Don't unzip it into a new folder - Windows will often name it something like "torn-atlas-extension (1)" if you're not careful, and that counts as a different folder to your browser.
  2. Go to chrome://extensions (or brave://extensions), find Torn Atlas, and click the small reload icon (a circular arrow) on its card.
  3. If you already had a Torn Atlas tab open, close it completely and open a fresh one - a plain refresh (F5) doesn't reliably reconnect an already-open tab to the reloaded extension, and you'll see "No response from the Torn Atlas extension" until you do.

Don't do this: removing the extension and adding it again via "Load unpacked", or unzipping updates into a fresh folder each time. Either one gives your browser a brand-new copy of the extension with empty storage - your trip log and everything else it remembers starts over from zero, silently, with no warning.

Along the way

Everything on the nav is live now - dashboard, travel day-planner and trip log, market/finance tools, crimes reference, education, stats. See Terms & data policy for exactly what's stored where.
