Patch notes & updates
What's changed recently, newest first - one entry per day. Fixes and improvements only, not every tiny copy tweak.
2026-10-06
- New: max buy & suggested buy on the Flipping page, for items you'd resell from your own bazaar (no market fee). Type an item and a Buy and the log form tells you what's worth paying and whether your price is good, acceptable or over; a new Buy targets table does the same for every plushie, flower and drug, with a verdict against today's cheapest listing. The figure is deliberately cautious: the lower of today's market value and the 7-day median, less your undercut, less your required margin - which grows automatically while an item's price is falling or its supply (circulation) is growing. Margin and undercut are yours to set.
- The "expected bazaar sell" in the Flipping panel now uses that same cautious number and your own undercut setting instead of a fixed 1% under market.

- Fixed the first sync after starting your computer showing "No response from the Torn Atlas extension" even though it was working - right after the browser starts, every extension loads at once and can take a while to answer, and the page gave up after a fixed 20 seconds. It now waits as long as the extension keeps showing progress, and only gives up after a real silence. The page also retries picking up your data a couple of times shortly after loading, instead of staying on "Connect your account" until you press Sync now.
- Fixed the Dashboard and Travel pages taking ~20 seconds to load. Since haul qty and travel method became personal settings, anyone whose combination hadn't just been loaded by someone else triggered the full slow market calculation themselves. The slow part no longer depends on your settings - it's prepared once for everyone and refreshed in the background - so your own settings only add a split-second of math. Pages load in about a second now.
- New: Travel script (beta) - the travel tab as a small panel on Torn's own travel pages, for Tampermonkey and Torn PDA. Ranked trips, restock/sell-out timers, tap-for-stock-chart, a 24h day plan, an optional travel log read from your Torn activity log (one click creates a custom Torn key that can read only your Travel and Shops log entries - nothing else), and the same filters - no extension needed.

- Important fix: your Travel page "Settings" (haul qty, travel method) and "Filters" (item types, destinations, cash cap, blacklist) were being saved to a single file shared by every visitor of the site - a leftover from before this was a public, multi-person tool. Any visitor changing theirs silently overwrote everyone else's. These now save into your own browser (same place your trips and stats already live), so they're yours alone and won't reset on you again. Requires re-downloading the extension from Get Started and reloading it once for this to take effect.
2026-09-28
- Fixed the Dashboard/Travel pages occasionally taking 15-30 seconds to load - a shared background calculation was expiring slightly before the job that refreshes it ran, so anyone landing in that gap paid the full cost. It's now kept warm continuously and never goes stale.
- Fixed a logged purchase sometimes silently reverting to unlogged. Two separate causes, both fixed: the extension's own routine background sync and a manual save could occasionally overwrite each other; and pressing F5 (or the page auto-refreshing after a save) could replay old data instead of checking the extension again. Both saving and refreshing now always reflect what's actually in the extension.
- Every page now tells the browser never to cache it, so a refresh can never show a stale copy of the page itself.
- If the extension was just reloaded in
chrome://extensions while a tab was already open, that tab loses its connection until it's closed and reopened fresh - a plain F5 doesn't reconnect it. Error messages and Get Started now say this directly.
- Saving a purchase now double-checks it actually stuck (re-reading it back from the extension) and retries automatically if not, instead of trusting a bare "saved" response.
2026-09-25
- Fixed United Arab Emirates trips sometimes showing as plain "UAE" text with no flag, and with "No known items for this country yet" in the purchase picker - Torn's API sometimes reports the short form "UAE" instead of the full name everything else here is keyed by. Trips are now normalized to the full name both when logged and when displayed, so flags and item pickers work correctly either way.
- Fixed a real case of the Dashboard getting permanently stuck on "Connect your account" while every other page kept working fine. The mechanism that avoids re-fetching your data on every page load could get out of sync if a page navigation was ever interrupted (a slow connection, clicking away mid-reload), after which it would keep skipping the fetch on every future visit to that page. It's now derived fresh from the current request every time instead of a flag that could be left in a stuck state.
2026-09-24
- Important fix: Suggested Buys and Buy Candidates were computing profit from a 12-hour trailing average price instead of Torn's current live price. Most of the time these are close, but after any real, sustained price move, the average lags behind reality - a real case: Xanax's 12h average sat about $46,000/unit above where it actually was, making a trip that was genuinely a loss look like a solid profit. Profit numbers here now always use the same live price shown in the item-detail popup and the Profit calculator, so they can never disagree with each other again.
- Abroad prices can also change every restock, not just Xanax's - a 0-stock item recommended on a predicted restock now uses a real average of that item's own observed restock prices (marked "avg", same as Xanax already was) instead of trusting whatever price happened to be seen last, which could be from an unrelated earlier restock.
- Fixed a real case of the wrong return-flight country showing (e.g. flying home from Argentina showing as Switzerland) - some destinations' flight times sit close enough together that ordinary timing jitter could make the wrong one look like the nearest match. The guess now has to clearly beat the runner-up, not just edge it out, and falls back to your own trip log (fixed a bug that stopped it from ever doing that on a brand-new return leg) when it's genuinely too close to call.
- Fixed a real case of the site showing nothing at all right after syncing while abroad - the page's request for your latest data used a much shorter timeout (600ms, 400ms in one spot) than the rest of the same request was already allowed (1500ms), so right after reloading the extension (when its background worker is briefly slower to wake up) the whole sync could silently get discarded even though it had actually completed. All of these now get the same generous timeout.
2026-09-23
- Torn Atlas is now public - no login required to reach the site anymore.
- The stock history chart in the item-explorer modal now shows 24h of real history plus a 16h projection (was 12h/10h), with the date included in its start/end labels so it's never ambiguous which day you're looking at.
- The Day Plan timeline's scrollbar is now themed to match the rest of the site (cyan) instead of the browser's default gray one.
- The "Sync now" button now shows a real progress bar under it while syncing - it fills in as the extension actually completes each step, not a fake animation.
- Added an "Updating the extension later" section to Get Started, explaining how to update it without losing your saved trip log/trades (a real incident earlier - removing and re-adding the extension, or unzipping into a new folder, wipes its local storage).
- Clicking an item name/icon in the Flipping ledger now pops up its market price/history, same as everywhere else on the site.
- The favicon (browser tab icon) now shows the Torn Atlas logo instead of a generic blank one.
- Fixed the "Item bought" picker on the manual trip log - it was showing the whole site-wide item catalogue instead of just what's actually sold at the destination you picked, so genuinely-sold items (e.g. Tiger Bone Powder in China) could be missing from it. It now also always includes anything you've personally bought at that destination before, even if the shared reference data doesn't happen to track it.
- Fixed a real bug where the Day Plan could quietly end up empty over normal use: every filter change auto-saves, and the item exclusion list was being rebuilt against a freshly re-fetched (live, constantly-changing) item catalogue instead of the one actually shown on screen - any item that came in or out of that live catalogue between page load and a filter tweak could get silently excluded, and this had built up to nearly every item being excluded. Fixed, and any account this already happened to has been reset.
2026-09-22
- Travel and Dashboard were taking 30+ seconds to load. Fixed a missing database index that was forcing a full table scan on almost every page load, plus added a short cache on the shared market calculation both pages use. Typical load time is now well under a second.
- The site now correctly shows when you've landed in a country and which one - previously it only recognized you as "traveling" during the flight itself, so the whole time you were actually abroad (arguably the part that matters most) the site showed nothing. Suggested Buys now scopes to wherever you currently are, not just wherever you're flying to. Also fixed a bug where a trip could fail to log its return leg at all if the extension only started syncing after you'd already landed, and sped up extension sync roughly 4x.
- The expanded Buy Candidates table no longer needs a sideways scrollbar on a normal desktop screen. Suggested Buys now shows a predicted "time left in stock" line for safely-available items, and an item with 0 stock now but a high-confidence restock predicted before you'd actually arrive is guaranteed a spot instead of being crowded out.
- Clicking a Stock predictor badge or mini-chart now also shows that item's abroad price, current market price, and profit/item, right alongside the restock/sell-out predictions.
